Development Direction and Focus

The Institute of Geriatric Welfare Technology and Science (IGWTS) will focus on the development of technology to support the environment and life of the aging population based on human nature, technology, and the welfare of the elderly. Courses will focus on technologies of limbs and action support, intelligent and friendly environment, and communication and information interaction.

Technology Development in Limbs and Action Support
Emphasis is on developing mobility support and assistive technology for the elderly, including
(1) Individual Transient Action Support Technology and Implementation Design
(2) Application design for integration of mobile support with assistive technology and environment

Technology Development for Intelligent and Friendly Environment
Focus is on the development of smart housing related technologies for the elderly, including
(1) Environment Friendly Design and Improvement: Environment Requirement Analysis and Customized Modular Design
(2) Smart Technology Application and Monitoring: Cloud and IoT Technologies for Building Smart Residential Networks

Technology Development for Communication and Information Interaction
The focus will be on developing technology for the elderly in terms of the capture, exchange, and application of communication and information, including
(1) Technology, information, and artificial intelligence applications related to old-age sensory abilities such as hearing and vision.
(2) Technology Application and Innovation Design for Aging and Intergenerational Interaction

Technology Development for Aging and Intergenerational Interaction
The research of this lab focuses on psycho-social aspects of technological applications on aging and intergenerational interaction, including
(1)Technology application and design for the aging population and intergenerational interaction.
(2)Technology application and design for older adult learning and education.
(3)Physical and mental health promotion and assessment for older adults.
